Enjoy Great Features at a Reasonable Price with the Scorpio EXO 700
Wednesday, November 25th, 2009The Scorpion EXO 700 http://www.thehelmetcenter.com/EXO-700-p-1-c-524.html is a well-built helmet that offers a lot of great features at a good value. In fact, many of the features found on the Scorpion EXO 700, which is both DOT and Snell 2005 certified, are not typically found on other helmets within the same price category.
Getting Ventilated with the Scorpion EXO 700
While there are certainly helmets on the market that offer a better ventilation system than the Scorpion EXO 700, this helmet does provide a solid 7 out of 10 ventilation system that moves air through the helmet fairly well. The front of the helmet features slider vents on both sides as well as a little vent in the center. The center vent is a little easier to get a hold of while wearing gloves, as it has a serrated edge. There are also a couple of exhaust points on the back of the helmet that further assist with getting air flow through the helmet.
Enjoying a Simple Shield Changing System with the Scorpion EXO 700
If you change out your shields on a regular basis, you will really like the shield changing system found with the Scorpion EXO 700. The system is so simple that most people are able to change out their shields while still wearing the helmet.
To change out the shield, you simply open it to the top position and then twist the disk on the side to release it. Then, pull the shield outward to remove it. To put in a new shield, you simply put the shield in place and then twist the disk back into position.
The shield that is included with the Scorpion EXO 700 helmet is very clear and the anti-fog system works very well. In fact, Scorpion has one of the best anti-fog systems out there.
Getting the Right Fit with the Scorpion EXO 700
Thanks to its fully removable liner, getting the right fit is pretty easy with the Scorpion EXO 700. Since the top liner can be removed, you can easily switch it out with a different liner in order to give yourself the best fit. Of course, this also makes it easier to clean the helmet as well.
The liner in the Scorpion EXO 700 is very well padded, which means it is very cushiony and will give your head a really good squeeze. Thanks to the cushiony feel of the helmet, it provides a very secure feeling and really grips your head. Keep in mind, however, that Scorpion helmets tend to run about a ½ size small. Therefore, if you normally wear a size medium, you will probably need to purchase a large when buying a Scorpion helmet.
In addition to the removable liner, the cheek pads in the Scorpion EXO 700 are also very easy to remove. A nice feature found with these cheek pads is the fact that the back side of the pad is not sewn closed. This means you can access the inner foam and make modifications if necessary. For people who wear glasses or who want to wear sunglasses while riding, this is a really nice feature because it allows you to make room for the arms of your glasses in order to prevent them from pushing against the side of your head. Usually, helmets that cost less than $250 do not allow you to access the inner lining of the cheek pad, so this is a unique feature for a helmet at this price point.
Since the composite fiberglass shell of the Scorpion EXO 700 is moderately sized, people with round-shaped heads and oval-shaped heads should feel comfortable with this helmet. Regardless of the shape of your head, this helmet does tend to have an encompassing feel. Keep in mind, however, that it does loosen up after wearing it. Most people find this helmet to be quite comfortable after breaking it in.
