As with all Scorpion helmets, the Scorpion EXO 1000 features a great visor system that is easy to change out. In fact, all you need to do is lift the visor up and then twist the disk on the side. After twisting the disk, the visor can be easily removed by pulling it away from the helmet. To put a new visor in place, simply put it into position and then twist the disk back into position.
The Scorpion EXO 1000 helmet also features an excellent anti-fog system. Just as with other Scorpion helmets, this helmet is virtually fog-free. In addition, the helmet features a tinted drop down sunshade. All you need to do to deploy the sunshade is to push the lever on the side of the helmet. When you are ready for the sunshade to go back up, you just press the lever back up. The drop down shade is a great feature for those who commute with their bikes, as it helps block out the sun without interfering with glasses. In addition, the shade drops own far enough that you don’t have to worry about seeing the lower edge as you look through the shade.
Getting the Right Fit with the Scorpion EXO 1000
Although the Scorpion EXO 1000 weighs in at 4 pounds, 1.5 ounces for a size medium, the weight doesn’t feel too bad while wearing it. In addition, the heftier weight is understandable considering all that is included with the helmet.
When purchasing a Scorpion EXO 1000, keep in mind that all Scorpion helmets tend to run about a half size small. Therefore, if you normally wear a size medium, you will probably need to purchase a large with this helmet. This particular helmet also features a moderate fit. Therefore, people with round heads and oval heads should find this helmet to be comfortable unless their heads are extremely round or extremely oval in shape.
To further assist with getting the right fit, the Scorpion EXO 1000 also features a pump system that allows you to pump up the helmet’s cheek pads. To pump up the cheek pads, you simply repeatedly push the red button that is inside the chin curtain at the bottom of the helmet. By pushing this button, the air bladders inside the cheek pads fill up with air and create a tighter, more secure fit. To release the air, you simply push the silver button that is located next to the red pump button.
